West Ham striker Michail Antonio has revealed he almost died in a car accident late last year and he doesn’t even know how he crashed into a tree.

“The police came and when they found me I was between the two seats, I was not in the drivers seat.

The first images of his mangle Ferrari, which crashed into a tree in Epping Forest on a stormy Saturday in early December, have been share on social media and have led people to wonder whether Antonio is still alive.
The incident left West Ham’s all-time top Premier League scorer in hospital for more than three weeks with a broken leg and faces a harrowing journey to recovery.
Antonio has now insisted he will play at the highest level again and feels he’s been given “another chance at life” after “nearly dying”.

Antonio felt “lazy” when his team-mate asked him to grab his bags from another car before setting off. So he took his Ferrari instead, something he wasn’t sure about.
“The back of the car was swinging around all the time “I didn’t feel safe,” he said. “The car had been with me for three weeks and I was thinking about returning it.”
It was a decision that changed everything. But when asked what he remembered about the accident on his way home, he said: “I don’t remember anything.”
“It’s very strange because all the way to the accident. I was told that I was awake and I was talking to everyone: the police. The villagers and the people who found me,” he said.
“My leg was badly shatter and they took me out and put a cast on the side of the car. “
Everyone thought I was going to be take by a medical helicopter. But the helicopter couldn’t get off the ground because of the storm, so I had to be take to the hospital.”
Three weeks ago, Antonio was visiting the wreckage of his car at a repair shop.
“I had this weird feeling in my stomach. It made me realise how close I had almost died. I had seen the pictures, but in reality it was ten times worse. The car was completely destroy. It was very difficult for me.”
